I’m a subcriber of Smart Wireless Broadband Philippines. Have DSL speed of 300+ KBps. Cant’ download faster than 50 KBps. All connections are LOCAL. No REMOTE. Please Help ME. Made Static IP but still cant go over 50 KBps. WHat do I do? What’s wrong? Thank you.
If anyone wants to fly me to the Phillipines for a vacation, I’ll check this out firsthand so I can say for sure, but until then, I have to guess. Most such wireless setups use a router with their setups, which you can’t control, and which has a firewall blocking your listen port.
This is the drawback to most wireless setups as implemented so far. You probably won’t get them to change that, so you may need to vote with your wallet on this one. Do make sure that you tell them why, though, and maybe someday we’ll see this practice ended.
