i’m trying to extract company of heroes. it has lots of numbered rar files. at the end of extraction i get a crc error. it also says the file is corrupt. what is this?
CRC is a method for making sure that nothing got corrupted or garbled in a message or file’s contents. It’s not bulletproof, but it’s pretty good. The message means what it says: the archive is corrupt. WinRAR has a repair tool, so try that, it might work. If it doesn’t, try downloading the thing again and see if it works better. If not, then it’s almost certainly the source that was corrupt and there’s no way to fix that.
